Badgers' Koenig feels Coulee Region support

MADISON, Wis. (WXOW) - Fans filled the Kohl Center Sunday to welcome home the Badgers Men's Basketball team.

A win Saturday against Arizona secured the Wisconsin Badgers a spot in the NCAA Final Four.

La Crosse native and Aquinas High School alum Bronson Koenig has already made his mark on the team as a Freshman.

Koenig says he is "happy being along for the ride" and happy to come off the bench for whatever the team needs.

He's felt support from the Coulee Region throughout the tournament. Koenig's high school coach, Rick Schneider, and fellow teammates traveled to Milwaukee to watch Koenig play in the 1st tournament game against American.

Koenig says one of the reasons he came to the UW-Madison was to be close to home and be able to stay in touch with old teammates and coaches.

The La Crosse native plans to come home after the season and visit his Alma Mater, but first the Badgers must face Kentucky in the semi-final game Saturday.
