Eagles Wrestlers help Eagle Bluff Kindergartners

Onalaska, WI (WXOW) - UWL Wrestlers visited the kindergarten students of Onalaska's Eagle Bluff Elementary to help the students in writing. The project was to help the children write a letter to a loved one. This exercise helps the kindergartners learn to write a letter with meaning, and learn about the how mail works.

UWL's head wrestling coach, Dave Malecek, says that he prides himself on the work the team does in the community and that academics are just as important as athletics. He also mentioned that the team has been doing work throughout the community for the last 6 years. Oktoberfest, Senior Prom, Run walks, and work at Riverside have been a few among other events and projects they have worked on. Dave Malecek pointed out that the wrestlers have been excited to help the kindergartners for awhile and that they have been wanting to do this since before January.

Alli Pratt, with 31 years of kindergarten teaching experience, says that she loves when something like this happens because it really does have an impact on both the Kindergartners and the college students.
