LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Wisconsin Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Secretary Mark Gottlieb and other Wisconsin D.O.T. employees kicked off the “Transportation Moves Wisconsin” series in La Crosse on Tuesday.
Gottlieb and the D.O.T. listened to the community’s thoughts and concerns regarding transportation needs and how future needs should be financed for all sorts of transportation, such as highway, roadway, bicycling, public transit, and railway movement.
Gottlieb gave a presentation on future projects throughout Wisconsin, and also answered questions regarding local transportation projects.
“Governor Walker has really gone out and asked us to go out and talk to folks all around the state and hear what is important to them about transportation and get their ideas. We want to hear their feedback about how we should create a system for financing transportation in the future that really works for all of us in Wisconsin,” Gottlieb said.
Community members expressed their concerns at the meeting about railroad safety, traffic problems, and potential future projects both locally and state-wide.
