PdC man announces bid to challenge Ron Kind

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - A retired Army veteran and Prairie du Chien business owner said he'll challenge incumbent Ron Kind for Wisconsin's 3rd Congressional District seat.

20 year U.S. Army veteran Tony Kurtz announced his candidacy on Wednesday.
Kurtz is a former helicopter pilot who served in Operation Desert Storm. After retirement from the U.S. army in 2005, he started a small business in Prairie Du Chien.
Kurtz, running as a Republican, said he is motivated to run against Kind to address issues such as job creation, quality healthcare, a balanced budget, and deficit reduction.

"I'm going to get out and meet each and every voter, look them in the eye and say 'You know what?  There is a difference, there's somebody that is going to listen to you, someone who is going to work for you, and take your concerns to Washington D.C. to stop the career politicians and let's get some things done'," said Kurtz

Kurtz is traveling across Western Wisconsin visiting with different communities speaking with voters.

The 3rd Congressional District stretches from north of Eau Claire down to the Illinois border and into central Wisconsin areas including Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids.

The general election is November 4th.
