City of La Crescent proceeds to take down ash trees

LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WXOW) – In La Crescent, ash trees are meeting a doomed fate.

The city started cutting down the 200 public trees in March and continued their work Wednesday.

The project is funded by a $75,000 Minnesota Department of Natural Resources grant to remove infected trees.

A third of that money will be used to replant trees throughout the city. Residents who do not want their ash tree removed, have the option of treating it with an insecticide.
