La Crosse Tavern League recognizes eight local charities

LA CROSSE- Wis. (WXOW)- Eight different charities were recognized today thanks to the La Crosse Tavern League.  Eight checks for $1,000 were presented at the La Crosse Center this afternoon as part of the Tavern League's state convention.

The North American Squirrel Association (NASA) was one of the charities that received a check today.  NASA is a non profit organization to provide physically challenged and elderly members with outdoor opportunities. Ken Spraetz, member of NASA, stated "It's just one more thing that emphasizes how nice and how wonderful and generous this community is to help all these non profit organizations. If it wasn't for their generosity than we probably wouldn't be able to exist."  NASA plans to use the money for local programs to assist the elderly.

Besides NASA, seven other charities were received a check today.  They are: Walk A Mile In Her Shoes, Special Olympics, United Way, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, Gemutlichkeit, Causeway, and the Hunger Task Force.
