Viroqua residents can stop running water

VIROQUA, Wis. (WXOW) - Another municipality wants its residents to turn off the taps now that the weather has turned warmer.

Nancy Bekkedal, Utility Clerk for the City of Viroqua, said that people can stop running a slow trickle of water.

A number of area communities wanted residents to leave one small trickle of water going from one faucet in a home in order to prevent pipes from freezing from this winter's cold temperatures.

The cold weather created a deeper than normal frost layer that had the potential to affect underground water and sewer pipes.
