Mock accident provides wake up call

BANGOR, Wis. (WXOW)- With prom around the corner, one area school sees the need to remind students of the dangers possible while driving irresponsibly.

Bangor High School held a mock car crash Friday afternoon.  The police, fire department, first responders and funeral home all pitched in to make this happen.  The program involved a mock head-on car collision in the school parking lot.  The result was 4 injured and 1 fatality.  Students and parents helped play roles in the event.

J.J. Hundt, a senior at Bangor High Shool, stated "Well, we get told about how this happens all the time and other places but we don't usually get to see it so I think having a first hand example of what it actually looks like puts a little fear into people."

A message that faulty and staff wanted students to remember as prom approaches is to not drink and drive and/or text and drive.

Bangor will hold their senior prom in two weeks.  Fire Department Chief Bob Rueckheim, said he's hoping for no phone calls that evening.
