UW-L Baseball Doubleheader with UW-Whitewater Halted Due to Rain
La Crosse, Wis. (UW-L Media Relations) - The baseball doubleheader between the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater Sunday afternoon at Copeland Park was halted due to rain. Play was stopped in the top of the sixth inning of the first game with the Warhawks leading 5-1. The game is scheduled to resume at noon Monday, April 14 at Copeland Park. The second game of the doubleheader will then follow.
UW-Whitewater able to gain an early advantage plating two runs in the top of the third inning. With the bases loaded, Michael Gonzalez and Casey Power drew walks to make it 2-0.
UW-L cut the lead to 2-1 in bottom of the third inning when Cole Cefalu scored on an RBI groundout by Joel Zyhowski.
The Warhawks made it 3-1 in the top of the fifth as Mikole Pierce scored on Power's single. A UW-L throwing error with the bases loaded allowed two runs to score in the sixth inning before play was stopped.
