La Crosse Police Working for Re-Accreditation

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)  La Crosse police are working for re-accreditation.  The Department received accreditation in May, 1998.  La Crosse was one of the first law enforcement agencies in the state accredited by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group. 

Police released a statement explaining the process.  The say ". . . it's a voluntary commitment to law enforcement excellence by maintaining compliance to a body of standards deemed essential to the protection of the life, health, safety and rights of the citizens that the La Crosse Police Department serves."

The Department will undergo an assessment April 22 through 24.  Residents can make comments during a public information session April 23 beginning at 5 PM at the Community Policing Center, 713 St. James Street, La Crosse.  You may also offer comments by calling 608-789-7252 on April 23 between the hours of 1 PM and 3 PM.
