LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WXOW) – Easter is on Sunday, but some local pastors are focusing on what Christians call “Holy Week”.
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent will hold services on Friday and Saturday prior to Easter Sunday. Pastors describe Easter as a “celebration of hope”, and hope people feel better once Easter passes.
“We live as people who want to know there is a future. We want to remember our futures and Easter tells us ‘yes, there is hope’,” Prince of Peace Pastor Mike Woods said.
Associate Pastor Kent Johnson describes Easter as a “celebration of life”, and wants people to understand the importance of Sunday.
“This is a celebration of the promise of life and God’s gift of life for Jesus Christ. For us, we celebrate life on this Easter weekend,” Johnson said.
