LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WXOW) – Prince of Peace Lutheran Church has been busy with Holy week services—the final holy week for their music directors.
Prince of Peace co-Music Directors, and husband and wife, Herb and Angie Henning, are retiring in June.
May 1 will mark Herb and Angie’s nine-year anniversary as co-directors at the church. Angie has been playing church music since 1972, and she said she will miss the variety in the music program.
“There’s a tradition to it that’s beautiful. There are so many composers that have taken the music and done exciting things with it, from classical composers to new composers. I love to help people get closer to God through music,” Angie said.
Angie said she will always appreciate memories of helping people connect to God through music and working with others Prince of Peace Lutheran musicians.
“Working with the people here, we have so many gifted musicians. It is so much fun to help them find their voice or their instrument, and share it with people in the congregation,” Angie said.
According to Angie, both she and her husband are retiring because they wish to spend more time with their grandchildren.
