Habitat for Humanity Restore looks to expand

Posted:
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The Habitat for Humanity Restore in La Crosse is looking for a new home.

They've been looking for a bigger building for the last year. In December their lease will run out on their location at the base of the Cass St. Bridge, said Amanda Acklin, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of La Crosse.

The store hopes to purchase a vacant building across from the landfill on Highway 16. That building will give them more room, a better drop off and pick up area, and a spot right next to the landfill. So if people go to the landfill to dump items, they could easily donate them instead.

Acklin said, "It's also out there where a lot of people go and do their shopping so it makes it more convenient for our customers as well."

They still need to raise enough money to purchase that building and they are also looking for volunteers to help revitalize La Crosse neighborhoods this Summer.

They will kick-off their Renew 2014 project on Sunday, May 4th. To sign-up to volunteer or learn more, visit their website or e-mail volunteer@habitatlacrosse.org.
