Police warn of phone scam

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The La Crosse Police department is warning the public about a phone scam.

Police said they have received complaints regarding a representative form the Publisher’s Clearing House calling and asking for bank account information in order to claim prize money.  This is a scam.

La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department has also received similar complaints.

Police are reminding people to never give away banking, personal, or other private information to a stranger over the phone.
