LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Fifty-five children went to work with their parents at Gundersen Health System for “Take Your Child to Work” Day.
This unconventional “Take Your Child to Work” Day is held at the Gundersen Integrated Center for Education every year.
Children learn about various health careers and also jobs that are behind the scenes.
This years events included a tour of the MedLink Helicopter Hanger,Tri-State Ambulance, viewing a piece of intestine brought in by Pathology, an ultrasound on a woman with twins, children creating their own cast, and participating in the Surgery Learning lab.
Brandon Gulrud, 5th grader at Decorah Middle School, says, "At first I was a little nervous, but then it was really fun!"
Gundersen believes the two-year-old program is a great way for employees to interact with their families and introduce children to health care careers.
