Renovations made to Sparta's Mayo Clinic Hospital

SPARTA, Wis. (WXOW) - Updates have been made to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Sparta.

The Medical and Surgical floor is now a better environment for patients, according to Renee Hone, Inpatient Nursing Supervisor at the Sparta Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital.

New floors that reduce noise have made the facility quiter. Rooms now have artwork, new furniture, and flat screen T.V.'s., among other items.

Gary Kuhlmann has been a patient for the last month in one of the new rooms. He gets discharged Thursday but said spending the last 30 days at Mayo in Sparta has helped him recover.

Kuhlmann said, "If you gotta be somewhere, in the hospital, this is probably one of the best settings there is, one of the best places."

Hone agreed and said, "One of the things people notice when they come off the elevator is that it feels like home, and that was our goal to make this place like coming home because we are like a big family out here in Sparta."

Hospital staff helped decide what types of updates were needed and members of the Sparta community helped fundraiser part of the update.
