MADISON, Wisconsin (WKOW) You can thank the NFL for making us wait two weeks longer for the draft.
In recent years, the first round would've been held this week Thursday night.
So draft hopefuls, like former badger safety Dezman Southward are passing the time by working out. Southward's been pumping iron at Wisconsin's facilities in Madison, with former teammates Jared Abbrederis, Jacob Pedersen and Ethan Hemer.
Being around other pro hopefuls has been helpful. "It's kind of hard sometimes to stay motivated and say 'hey, I'm going to work out this many times a week and really go hard.' But I think working out with our guys Abby, Borland, Ped, James White before he left, it makes it easy because you see all these guys who are hungry and you're hungry as well and you not only want to go out there and compete with them but compete with everyone else out there," Southward said after a recent workout.
The first round of the NFL Draft is Thursday, May 8th.
