Mark and I headed to the airport early-super early. We breezed through security, checked in with the airline, and then headed through immigration. I swear my heart was beating out of control. I started to sweat as I handed over my passport and visa. I was waiting for something else to go wrong. It took less than 2 minutes for the worker to scan my passport and take my picture. It was the longest 2 minutes of my life.
We did it! We got through immigration and headed to our gate.
While waiting for our flight we heard an announcement for someone. We couldn’t quite understand the names, but we both thought the announcer said Mark.
Mark and I looked at each other and at the same time said 'I didn’t hear anything'. Now, I don’t really think they were paging us, but we were not taking any chances.
Sitting the on runway waiting for our plane to take off I felt like I was in the movie Argo. I was just waiting for a van full of government folks to drive up and try to get us off the plane. I think I watch too many movies, but when the plane finally took off, I felt like I breathed again for the first time in a week. I was finally headed home.
