Hula Hustle 5K raises $50,000 for American Cancer Society

ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) - More than one million people in the United States get cancer each year. Two out of three diagnosed survive for at least five years, according to the American Cancer Society.

La Crosse resident Ali Husfeldt was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2012. She went through treatment and a double mastectomy and is cancer-free as of last week.

Husfeldt was the honorary chair for Sunday's American Cancer Society Hula Hustle 5K. The event raises money to help fight the disease.

She said, "There's so many people and families that are touched by cancer in some way so it's nice to see so many people come together and support the common cause with the goal of finding cures for this nasty disease."

More than 700 people participated in the run/walk and about $50,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society.

News 19's very own Dan Breeden was there to announce the race winners, WXOW is a proud sponsor of the American Cancer Society Hula Hustle 5K.
