Hundreds gather for the 18th Annual Mayoral Prayer Breakfast

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Leaders in our community from politicians to police were prayed for at the 18th Annual Mayoral Prayer Breakfast Thursday morning.

The event packed in hundreds of people at the Radisson Center.  The annual event is held in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer and is a time of honoring and praying for our area's elected officials, educational leaders, emergency responders, and business leaders.

"Often times, our leaders, those who respond in emergencies, our educators, we can often times be critical, but this is a time to really lift them up because they do an important job in our community and we want to support them in every way possible and prayer is one of those ways," says Pastor Taylor Haley of the First Presbyterian Church.

The breakfast began with 12 people back in 1997.  Now, more than 300 people attend.
