LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) -- Next month, the La Crosse community will get a crown jewel for its arts district in the form of the mural set to be installed on the Pump House west wall. However, the mural unveiling is just a part of ARTSPIRE, which organizers hope becomes an annual celebration of the arts in La Crosse.
Local artists, like Joyce Diveley, can reserve booths at the street fair that will take place outside of the Pump House on June 14th. Diveley said the prize money and potential sales provides some incentive, but the idea of a community celebration of the arts, in a central location, provides even more.
"Really the connection with the people at the shows is the best part about being in this profession," Diveley said. "You really get to talk to the people, they get to talk to you, sometimes they place custom orders. You know, it can really just open up a whole new avenue of people that you know."
The deadline for artists to reserve a booth is May 8th. It's $75 for a single artist, or two can share a booth for $85. To find the application, head to the website www.artspirelacrosse.com.
