La Crosse gets passing grade for energy efficiency

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – La Crosse gets a grade of “B” for its efforts to be more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

At a special meeting Tuesday evening, Dr. Rob Tyser of the Sustainable La Crosse Commission awarded the grade to the city.

Mayor Tim Kabat said he was pleased with the rating, but knows there is always more the city can do to improve.

The grade came from a review of the past five years of the city’s efforts. The Sustainable La Crosse Commission released its Strategic Plan for Sustainability in 2009.

The review covered items such as the MTU’s hybrid buses, propane powered police vehicles, and how sewage and garbage combine to create energy.
