Thompson sticks with same approach when it comes to the draft

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WXOW) We'll know the newest member of the Green Bay Packers by 10 p.m. Thursday. Of course, the Packers could trade out of the first round and we'll have to wait another day.

General Manager Ted Thompson and his staff will be watching the first round anxiously, just like the rest of us.

And you've probably watched the draft before and saw someone pick one of your favorite players just before the Packers pick and gone 'Aw, shucks.'

Well, Thompson has done that too."There are moments during the draft when they call out names that you wish they didn't call out. But it's not difficult. There's a saying we go by and during the draft itself if we need to pat ourselves the back sometimes we'll repeat it 'just take the best player, just take the best player,' " Thompson said during his pre-draft news conference.

The NFL Draft kicks off Thursday at 7pm.
