Lot-C is One Step Closer to Redevelopment

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW)  -A decision on choosing a developer for the parking lot across the street from the courthouse gets closer Wednesday night.

A meeting in La Crosse revealed that three firms are interested in the Lot-C project. Also discussed was what the city of La Crosse wants to see in the proposals and discussion on the timeline to make the process run efficiently.

The three firms interested in the site are Doran, a developer based out of Minneapolis; and two local developers-Weber Holding, and a partnership of Three Sixty Real Estate Solutions and Doerflinger.

One of the main issues the committee talked about was parking. La Crosse’s downtown has a large need for parking. Since the site is already a parking lot they want to see a structure that takes up less space but allows for a similar amount of parking.

The committee also touched on topics of sustainability, tax base, sale price, among other topics. These topics were put into a tiered point system so that the committee can grade how each firm handles these topics in their proposals.

Lot-C is part of a bigger puzzle that includes the Administration Center being sold and rezoned and the purchase and relocation of Associated Bank to Lot-C. In order for the site to actually be developed it needs to be approved in tomorrow’s full council meeting at City Hall.

The next step for the committee after approval is to meet with the three firms on May 20. The firms will then have until June 24 to submit a proposal for the site.
