VIOLA, Wis. (WXOW) - Two people in a car that authorities said rolled multiple times, hit a concrete culvert, and landed upside down in a small creek walk away with no injuries.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon at 5:26 p.m. on Highway 56 just west of Viola in Vernon County.
A statement from the Vernon County Sheriff's Department said that the driver of the car, Anthony Saarem, 29, of La Crosse, was headed west when he swerved to miss a turning vehicle. As he did so, his car hit the end of a guardrail. The car rolled over and hit the culvert before landing on its roof.
Neither Saarem or his passenger, Erik Anderson, 30, of Whitehall, were injured. Both men were checked out by first responders before being released. The sheriff's department said that both men were wearing their seatbelts and that front and side airbags opened during the crash.
The driver of the other vehicle, Danielle Wight, 33, of LaFarge, and her 7-year-old son, were not injured.
