Coon Valley Elementary evacuated after employee smelled gas

Coon Valley Elementary evacuated after possible gas leak

COON VALLEY, Wis. (WXOW) - More than 100 students and staff were evacuated Tuesday morning from Coon Valley Elementary School for a possible gas leak.

According to Westby Area School District's superintendent, Chuck Norton, an employee at the school reported smelling gas in the hallway near the gym.

The school was evacuated to the town hall for about an hour before being let back into the building.

The Coon Valley Fire Department reported that there was no threat.

The gas company was called in to investigate the source of the smell.
