LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) Holmen graduate Ben Cejka will get the start on the mound for the UW-La Crosse baseball team when they take on Concordia-Chicago in the opening round of regional play in the NCAA Division III Championships.
Cejka and his teammates are hitting the road for Whitewater for the second week in a row.
The Eagles were one of 16 at-large teams to receive a bid into the national tournament. And they're one of three teams from the WIAC to get in. That hasn't happened since 2008.
"Playing tough teams in the WIAC every week really prepares us for the next couple of games. Especially playing teams like Point and Whitewater, we get the best out of them and they get the best out of us. It's going to be some fun games this weekend," said senior outfielder Cole Cefalu.
"Three of the teams in our conference are in the field of 56. That's pretty amazing to think about those are teams we play four times a year and teams that we have to go through to get to where we are today. So, it's pretty amazing," said Cejka.
