Authenticom celebrates block grant payoff to the city

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Seven years ago, the city of La Crosse granted a business of seven employees a loan to help grow their business.

Today, Authenticom has over one hundred employees and announced that they have paid the city back that loan.
This announcement coincides with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Community Development Block Grant program. A program that President and CEO, Steve Cottrell says was instrumental in the growth and success of his business.

"It is absolutely a community joint effort and without all of that, we would not be as successful as we have been and also we wouldn't be able to provide the jobs that we've been able to provide in this area, like I mentioned over one hundred employees...," says Cottrell.

Mayor Kabat says the community development block grant program has been an important and effective tool for the city's small business program and has helped to create hundreds of jobs in the city.
