LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW)- Hundreds of local school children enjoy stories in Myrick Park on Thursday, and Friday, May 15 and 16.
The two days are part of the annual Kids Day event leading up to the La Crosse Storytelling Festival planned for September 5-6.
The Kids Day event is a fundraiser for the Storytelling Festival.
Sara Slayton, Director of the Storytelling Festival, stated that "One of the most important things that is happening here is that children are getting that face to face story telling. We don't see a lot of that these days. Unfortunately, I think we let television tell children our stories instead of letting us tell them."
"Kid's Day In The Park" continues on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The cost is $2 per child. The storytelling goes in 30 minute sessions.
