Despite high water, anglers fish the Mississippi

Posted:

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW)- Water levels may have risen just above 12 feet—which is flood stage—but that didn’t stop anglers from catching bass on the Mississippi.

The Bass Fishing League BFL Great Lakes Division is back in La Crosse.

Staff says the fish traveled to shallow areas since water levels are so high, giving anglers a successful day out on the river.

Kurt Mazurek of Antigo won the tournament.  He had five fish weighing a total of 17 pounds, six ounces.  With the victory, he won $4,948.
