Viroqua man escapes vehicle after it catches fire

TOWN OF VIROQUA, Wis. (WXOW) - A Viroqua man escapes his vehicle with no injuries after it started on fire while he was driving.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, on North Asbury Road in the Town of Viroqua.

The Vernon County Sheriff's department said Joseph Menne, 77, was driving when he heard a loud bang and saw flames burst through the floorboard and dashboard.

The flames struck Menne in the face and burned some of his hair but the Sheriff's department said he complained of no injuries and refused medical treatment.

The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when the Vernon County Fire department arrived.

The accident is being investigated by the Vernon County Sheriff's office.
