ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) - Fishermen rescue a kayaker who gets caught in strong currents and is swept over the Onalaska spillway Tuesday afternoon.
Rescuers were sent to both sides of the spillway for a call of a possible drowning in progress around 2:00 p.m.
According to Onalaska Police, the man was kayaking near the spillway when he became caught in the current. The kayak at some point flipped over, although the man was able to get out of the boat. People in boats and on shore saw the man's struggles.
While some called for help, a couple fishing nearby drove their boat over to the man and got him out of the water.
