Long time cross country coach retires

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) After a 36 year run, Scott Anderson's journey as the Central High School's Girls cross country coach is crossing the finish line.

Anderson announced his retirement Wednesday.

His coaching career includes 4 state titles, 14 top 3 finishes at State and 28 conference titles. Anderson was elected to the Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004.

"Coach Anderson has been an inspirational and influential coach to his student runners for the past 36 years," said Central Athletics Director Joe Beran. "During his time with these young women he not only shaped and perfected their ability to run, but also provided a foundation to lead a quality life premised on character and the belief that can achieve very high goals."
