Wabasha Bridge renamed for soldier killed in Vietnam

WABASHA, Minn. (WXOW) - A new name for the Wabasha bridge over the Mississippi River.

On Wednesday, Gov. Mark Dayton signed a bill into law naming the bridge "Michael Duane Clickner Memorial Bridge"

Sergeant Clickner was a lifelong resident of Wabasha and a 1967 graduate of Wabasha High School.  He was killed in action on April 11, 1970, in the Binh Dinh Province of Vietnam.  He was only 21-years-old.

"Sergeant Michael Duane Clickner served our state and nation with great courage,"  said Governor Mark Dayton.  "This bridge will always honor him and his heroism."
