LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) -- Installation is underway on the mural that will soon cover the west wall of the Pump House.
World-renowned artist John Pugh arrived in La Crosse on Monday. He and his crew are currently working to hang the 60 by 24 foot piece of art. The hanging of the mural is almost complete, but still some finishing touches remain over the next three weeks.
"Time wise, I'm 3/4 of the way done, but as far as visual impact, a lot of that is going to unfold in the next couple of weeks. There's a lot of glazing, subtle tweaks that will really make this thing pop."
Pugh also said it represents the "confluence" of the area in more ways than one.
"[It represents] kind of the sacred space that La Crosse is," said Pugh. "I'm kind of embracing that. I think it will be something that people will connect with and feel a certain amount of pride about."
The mural will be unveiled at the first annual Artspire event on June 13th.
