Central High School continues a 92-year tradition

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Central High School continued a 92-year tradition Friday of honoring military members past and present who have served the country.

Hundreds attended the ceremony Friday morning outside the school to remember those who gave their lives during service.
Friday's event included a flag presentation, performances from Central's robed choir, the Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, and a special address from Sergeant Dustin Putnam of the United States Marine Corps.

Putnam explains why he felt it was important to tell the story of a fellow marine. "We lose a lot of young men and women that don't get recognized so to be able to put a face and a name to somebody that hasn't been put in the history books, that might not be on wikipedia, you know things like that, so that's why I felt it was important," says Sgt.Putnam.

The ceremony at Central began back in 1923.
