LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Troops overseas will soon get cards from people in La Crosse. Kids and adults stopped in at Java Vino Saturday to write letters of encouragement to our troops. McKesson Pharmaceutical along with Operation Write Home sponsored the event.
Members of the community also sent blank cards to service members overseas, so they can have a card to send back to their loved ones.
11-year-old Olivia Sexauer volunteered her time at the event. She said, "Just imagine how would you feel if you got a letter from somebody that cared so it'll make the troops feel happy and worth something."
Amy Sexauer, Human Resources Associate at McKesson Pharmaceutical, said "They are able to target the military who don't get mail or get very little mail so this makes it even more important."
