Washington, D.C. (WXOW) – A Winona High School student is the winner of this year's Congressional Art Competition.
The event is a nationwide annual art competition that allows high school students from all 50 states to showcase their artistic ability.
Senior Emily Bartz is this years winner with her painting “Jungle Jumble”. Her art will be on display in the Cannon tunnel at the Capitol.
“This is a unique competition that provides the opportunity to showcase the artistic talent of southern Minnesota students and acknowledge our nation’s gifted young artists,” said Representative Tim Walz as he announced the winner Tuesday.
The 2nd place winner was Henry Heins from Mayo High School with 3rd place going to Ashlee Althoff also from Winona High School.
