Ride with the Blue Angels

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - When you get an invitation to fly with the Blue Angels you say yes.

To fly, you have to pass a physical and that's because what you're about to experience is a major physical challenge and that's putting it lightly.

Lt. Ryan Chamberlain is the pilot taking me up and the man who will have my life in his hands.

Before I do anything I have to sign a waiver, then learn how to keep from fainting from the G-force-a grueling physical battle within the body that Navy pilots are all too familiar with.

Walking out to the plane two things were going through my mind: I can't believe I am doing this and why am I doing this?

The take off is the first shocker.

It's like a roller coaster ride on steroids.

Once you're in the air the pilot demonstrates the maneuvers that airplane can handle and makes you put into practice the grunting technique to experience the G-force without passing out.

A ride with the Blue Angels is a wild ride but it's also one that makes you understand why they say the Blue Angels are the best of the best.

The Blue Angels perform this weekend at the Deke Slayton Airfest.
