LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - What began nearly four-and-a-half hours earlier ends with a Loggers victory over the Wisconsin Woodchucks at Copeland Park Wednesday night.
Jerrod Bravo scored on a wild pitch from Tim McElroy that got by catcher Chase Simmons in the bottom of the 15th inning for the 3-2 win.
The score was deadlocked at 2-2 since the 7th inning.
Wisconsin started the scoring off in the 4th when CJ Chatham crossed home on a bases loaded single by Kyle Toth. It was their only run after Troy Traxler hit into a double play to end the inning. The team would score one more run in the 5th when a throwing error by the Loggers Ryan Kirby allowed Paul DeJong to score.
The Loggers first run of the night came in the bottom of the 5th when Loggers shortstop Sulliam Rios Reyes singled to drive in Cody Foreman from third. Rios Reyes picked up his second RBI when he again singled in Foreman from second base.
La Crosse did have their chance in the 11th, but a throw from CF Curtis Bussard cut down Holmen native Taylor Kohlwey at the plate for the third out.
The Woodchucks had their shot in the top of the 12th, but weren't able to advance a runner past second base.
With the win, La Crosse is 2-0 on the season. They're tied with the Kenosha Kingfish atop the South Division standings in the Northwoods League.
The Loggers are on the road Thursday as they head to Warner Park in Madison to take on the Mallards.
