Viterbo University honors Pope John XXIII Award Winners

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Viterbo University hosted a reception on Thursday night for the winners of this year's Pope John XXIII Award for public service.

The award recognizes those who have shown distinguished service and involvement in the community.

This years winners are Western Technical College President Lee Rasch, Wisconsin Broadcasters Hall of Famer Dick Record, and Quillin's Foods husband and wife Phil and Barbara Quillin.

All four winners have had a long history of involvement at Viterbo, and they felt honored to receive such a prestigious award.

“It’s pretty awesome. When they called, I was very humbled, I couldn’t believe it. I thought they maybe had the wrong number,” Phil Quillin joked.

“It means a lot. It’s almost the finest award you can get in La Crosse and that makes me feel good,” Record said.

The Quillins were honored for their volunteer involvement at Mayo Clinic Health System, Franciscan Healthcare. Record has been a long supporter of the Arts Programs at Viterbo.
