MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- The Madison Mallards powered past the La Crosse Loggers 7-5 in the first of a two-game homestand Thursday night.
The Loggers got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning over the defending Northwoods League champs. Madison turned things around in the third, though, with an RBI single from Spencer Blackshear to cut the deficit in half.
Michael Handel, Drew Carlile and Alex Bacon will all drive in runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Mallards a two-run lead.
Both teams added two runs in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth inning. Tim Black got the save for the Mallards.
