“After many years of honorable service to our nation, I believe Secretary Shinseki did the right thing for our veterans by stepping down. While he made significant progress on a number of fronts as Secretary, there has clearly been a systemic problem in the VA in delivering care to veterans on a timely basis. Putting new leadership in place is a necessary step toward restoring confidence in the VA and fixing the problems that have hurt our veterans.
