LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - They have been thundering through the skies all week, and now the public finally gets to be up close and personal for the 2014 Deke Slayton Airfest.
Thousands of people crowded the airport to see the high flying performances including, Yak 52 Russian plane, U.S. Coast Guard, Vanguard Squadron, and vintage military planes. Local favorite Bill Blank performed with his Super Decathalon.
The main feature for this weekend is Fat Albert, a Military C-130, and The Navy Blue Angels. The high speed aerial maneuvers are always a crowd favorite.
