LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW)------Aric Elmore can soar, the La Crosse Logan Junior who placed 4th at state in the Long Jump last season, has dominated the event this season. His jump of 23 feet, 5 inches is second best in the entire state.
“Each week we kind of draw the line in the sand for him and he also seems to get a crossed it and that seems to be his motivation,” Logan Jumping Coach Casey Knoble.
Elmore has had a successful season, he won conference titles in both events and won a regional and a sectional title in the triple jump. But what is most impressive about this feat is the fact that Elmore started Long Jumping just last year and picked up the Triple Jump this spring.
“They figured since I was good at long jump that they should test me out at triple jump, and they did just that and I am finally starting to get the technique down, it's been a struggle in practice, but my coach never gives up on me,” said Aric Elmore.
With so little experience jumping and with so much talent, the sky seems to be the limit for Elmore.
“We talked at the beginning of the year, how go could he be and I think by the end of next year we will get every little bit of potential out of him that we can, and he is one of the best jumpers in the state right now and he has a chance to make some big marks and big history here,” says Knoble.
“I have a long way I have to go, if I want to be really good, I got a long way so I have to get the simple stuff down first,” says Elmore.
The Wisconsin State Track and Field Meet will take place June 6th/7th at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.
