Heartbreak for city softball teams, but Arcadia is moving on

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW)  MVC Co-champs Central and Logan fought the good fight Tuesday, but both lost Sectional semifinal games 1-0.

Central lost Verona in unusual fashion. Verona had the winning run on 3rd with one out in the 9th when Central leftfielder Katlyn Roesch made a nice running catch in foul territory. The runner from third tagged-up and scored the only run of the game. Thus, a walk-off foul ball.

In West Salem, Logan pitcher Jordyn Klemen gave up just one hit. Unfortunately, it was a solo home run to the opposing pitcher Abby Klopp.
Klemen struck out 11 in 7 innings. Logan had two runners on in the bottom of the 7th but could not score in their 1-0 loss. Klopp struck out 9 and gave up 3 hits while keeping Logan off the scoreboard.

Arcadia is moving on to the Sectional Finals in division 3. They beat Mineral Point 1-0 in 8 innings. Raiders pitcher Taylor Haines struck out 17 batters. Arcadia scored the winning run on a Mineral Point error. They will play Poynette at Poynette Thursday afternoon with the winner going to State.
