ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) -- A rollover crash shuts down a portion of Highway 53 in Onalaska early Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the call around 1:30 a.m. of an SUV that flipped several times. Officers said it appears the driver was heading northbound and drifted onto the shoulder before over-correcting the steering wheel causing the vehicle to roll.
The driver was taken to the hospital with what crews are calling serious injuries.
Both of the northbound lanes were closed between Sand Lake Rd. and Hwy. OT. Drivers were detoured around that stretch of road while the crash site was cleared. The highway was re-opened shortly before 6:30 a.m.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash.
