Additional police on the streets in La Crosse this weekend

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - As part of a grant to crack down on drunk driving, the La Crosse Police Department plans to have extra officers on the street Friday and Saturday.

In a statement from the department, the added manpower comes through a High Visibility OWI Enforcement grant.

On Monday morning, the department plans to have extra officers on Rose Street from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. as part of a High Visibility Pedestrian Enforcement grant.

The statement said the department wants to reduce traffic-related injuries or death and improve safety.
