UPDATE: Storms put short halt to state track at UWL

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The state track meet, shut down during a thunderstorm that moved into the area, is set to resume shortly.

Fans and athletes are now allowed back into Roger Harring Stadium after being asked to leave around 3:00 p.m. for the storms that brought thunder, lightning, and heavy rains to UW-L.

WXOW's Dave Polzin said that the running events are starting at 5:15 p.m.

Pole vault events were moved indoors at Mitchell Hall.


LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - A fast moving storm has put a halt on the state track meet at UW-L.

The storms began rumbling through around 3:00 p.m.

As a precaution, Roger Harring Stadium was evacuated as heavy rains, thunder, and lightning descended on the meet.

According to WXOW's Dave Polzin, who was covering the meet, workers are trying to dry off things in preparation to continue the meet.

At last check, it still may be an hour or more to get the meet restarted.
