GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - A big deal in the offseason made cornerback Sam Shields a core player for the Packers.

It's the responsibility that comes with signing a four-year, $39 million contract with a $12.5 million signing bonus in staying in Green Bay.

Shields said Tuesday that he feels no extra pressure, and that his best years are still ahead of him.

Shields has 13 interceptions in four seasons with the Packers, including four last year in 14 games. He pairs with Tramon Williams to bring stability to the cornerback position at a time when Green Bay is working in first-round draft pick Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and second-year pro Micah Hyde at safety opposite returnee Morgan Burnett.

Shields has developed from an undrafted free agent into one of the Packers' top defenders.
